Phansidewa, 24th May: Gold jewellery worth about Rs 4 lakh were stolen from the house of Adhir Sarkar, a resident of Banijjote village of Jalas-nijamtara area under Phansidewa block, on May 17. After the incident, Adhir had lodged a written complaint in Phanidewa police station.
Based on the complaint, the police launched an investigation and arrested Amal Sarkar on charge of theft. Today the accused was produced in the Siliguri Sub-divisional Court. Police are probing the incident and trying to recover the stolen gold jewellery.
