Siliguri, 28th May: Continuous rise in petrol prices has led to significant difficulties for commuters, online delivery workers, small business owners, and vehicle users in Siliguri. Daily travel and work-related transportation costs have increased sharply, impacting livelihoods.
The situation has further worsened as several petrol pumps in different areas have reportedly imposed limits on fuel sales. In some locations, petrol is being capped at ₹300 or ₹500 per customer, while larger vehicles are restricted from purchasing fuel worth more than ₹1000.
A petrol pump operator stated that limited fuel stock and irregular supply have forced them to introduce such restrictions to ensure availability for all customers and prevent complete depletion at the pumps.
Meanwhile, locals have demanded immediate normalisation of supply and control over rising fuel prices to ease public hardship.
