Siliguri, 25th May: A key meeting regarding patient services and overall infrastructure development at Siliguri District Hospital was held on Monday in the presence of Siliguri MLA Shankar Ghosh, the Sub-Divisional Officer, Chief Medical Officer of Health, Hospital Superintendent, doctors and health workers. Various issues related to hospital services and patient facilities were discussed in detail during the meeting.
Several concerns faced by patients and their family members were raised during the discussion. Important issues including the need for a night shelter for patients’ relatives, parking problems within the hospital premises, reducing the influence of touts, and ensuring timely attendance of doctors and health workers were discussed. The MLA also reviewed the progress of ongoing development works at the hospital.
After the meeting, MLA Shankar Ghosh stated that the aim is to transform Siliguri District Hospital into one of the best hospitals in the state in terms of patient services. He said initiatives are being taken to identify and resolve existing problems at the earliest.
He further informed that special steps would be taken to address infrastructure-related issues and arrange a night shelter facility. Instructions have also been issued to ensure doctors and health workers remain present at the hospital on time.
It was also decided that large information boards mentioning dos and don’ts within the hospital premises would be installed. Additionally, a complaint box will be placed at the hospital so that patients and their family members can easily submit written complaints and grievances.
