Paschim Banga Asha Karmi Union protested in support of 16-point demands

Siliguri, 29th July: Paschim Banga Asha Karmi Union protested in support of 16-point demands.The Asha Karmi workers paid tribute to Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar on his 132nd death anniversary in front of Baghajatin Park in Siliguri. After this, the workers rallied and reached the Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad office in Siliguri, where they staged a protest. Workers from plains and hills participated in the demonstration.


Their demands include 16-point demands for wages, government recognition, and weekly leave. Due to the protest by the union workers, a heavy traffic jam was caused near Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad’s office. The police reached the spot and controlled the crowd. Later, a group of five members of the union submitted a memorandum to the Chief Health Officer through the Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad. The workers warned of going on a strike from August 03 if their demands are not met soon.
