Online IPL betting racket busted once again in Siliguri, two arrested

Siliguri, 19th May: The ongoing crackdown on the illegal betting market operating under the guise of IPL matches in Siliguri has yielded yet another breakthrough. Following previous actions taken by the Special Operations Group (SOG), Matigara Police Station, and Bhakti Nagar Police Station, Siliguri Police Station has successfully dismantled a betting operation concealed within a meat shop. Two individuals were apprehended in connection with the case last night, identified as MD Sharfaraz and MD Nafeez Alam, both residents of Bagrakote.


According to sources, Sharfaraz and Nafeez were running an online IPL betting market, utilizing the meat shop as a front. They were engaged in daily gambling activities on IPL matches through a mobile application. Acting on intelligence received from undisclosed sources, police conducted an operation last night and arrested the duo from the Bagrakote area. During the operation, two mobile phones and a sum of cash were seized as evidence. Today, both accused individuals were presented before the Siliguri court, and further investigation is underway.
