Online dating and matrimonial sites a blessing in disguise or a curse? Rajganj girl duped of cash and jewellery

Rajganj, 18th August: Online dating and finding a perfect match on matrimonial sites has become a common way to find oneself a partner. But, sometimes online dating and marriage have their own repercussions if not careful. A case of a girl who faced the same result has come to the fore. 


The said girl from Rajganj, applied to a matrimonial site where she came in contact with a man from New Delhi. The said man has been identified as Sami Yadav. The duo used to converse over the phone for a year and were even planning to get married. The man also visited her home in Rajganj several times. 

The girl alleged of having a physical relationship with the man. Later, Sami Yadav escaped the girl’s house with a sum of two lakh rupees and gold ornaments. The man went off the radar and did not contact the girl. Finally, on 30 July the girl lodged a written complaint at the Rajganj Police Station. 


On receiving the complaint, the police shortly engaged in the investigation and reached Maharashtra under the orders of SI Mohammad Mansooruddin of Rajganj Police Station. On August 14, the police arrested the accused with the help of Sadar Bazar police station in Jalna district of Maharashtra. The accused Sami Yadav was produced in the court there and brought to Rajganj police station on transit remand. Today the accused was produced in Jalpaiguri court.
