Onions price after tomatoes: Skyrocketing onion prices leave Siliguri consumers in despair

Siliguri, 01st November: The prices of onion prices are skyrocketing in various markets of Siliguri in the ongoing festive season. The general public is in despair and returning without buying the vegetable.


According to reports, the price of onions is nearing the century mark. Earlier, the price was 30-40 Rs per kg, at present the price has doubled. Currently, in a number of markets in Siliguri, the price is 70 to 80 Rs per kg. As per the consumers, there could be a further increase in the rates.

Meanwhile, the traders stated that the vegetable had to be bought at higher rates which led to an increase in the price in retail markets. They added that the consumers are buying fewer items.
