After one tests positive, Dengue and scrub typhus outbreaks become a growing concern in Siliguri 

Siliguri, 20th May: After a 04-year-old child tested positive for scrub typhus, citizens of Siliguri are fearing the spread of the disease. Officials added that the child also has symptoms of dengue. Reportedly, the patient is a resident of the Binay More area under Ward No. 36 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation. She is undergoing treatment at North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for a week. 
Following the news, the Ward Councilor Ranjan Sheel Sharma initiated a cleanliness drive in the said area this morning. During this, the drains and puddles were cleaned, while disinfectant was sprayed. 
In this regard, the Ward Councilor assured that all necessary measures are being taken to reduce breeding areas for disease-carrying mosquitoes and prevent illness. Survey teams are being sent to people’s homes to maintain the records and also attention is being paid to waterlogging in the area.
