Phansidewa, 08th December: A poacher has been arrested with a huge number of parrots, on Wednesday. The youth was nabbed by the villagers when he arrived at a paddy field in the Chaupukharia area of Phansidewa.
The locals said that several people were hunting parrots in the paddy field since early morning. However, they managed to catch one of them red-handed. Later, the forest department was informed.
Upon receiving the news, the Bagdogra forest department and Bagdogra police reached the spot and arrested the youth.
The ranger of Bagdogra Forest Department said that 25 parrots have been rescued. Most of them are injured.
