One dead and two injured in a major fire at Siliguri Junction

Siliguri, 05th November: While the entire city lit up in a dazzling display of light and colour to celebrate the Hindu festival of Diwali, five shops in Siliguri Junction burnt to ashes after a major fire broke out. One person was killed and two others were severely injured in the incident. The name of the deceased has been mentioned as Ram Babu.


According to the information received, flames were seen coming out of a tea shop in the Siliguri Junction area late at night. Following this, the locals informed the fire department. As soon as the news was received, three engines of the fire brigade reached the spot. After about an hour and a half of hard work, the fire was brought under control. However, five shops including two hotels, a garage, and a tea shop were completely burnt to ashes.

Meanwhile, IC and ACP of Pradhan Nagar police station Manish Yadav also reached the spot. A hotel employee named Ram Babu lost his life in the incident. Two others have been severely injured.


Meanwhile, Siliguri fire department official Ajit Ghosh said that the fire has been brought under control with the help of three engines. It is being assumed that the blaze was caused by a lamp (diya) that had been lit.
