Siliguri, 16th July: NJP Police arrested a person for possessing a huge amount of cannabis. The accused has been identified as Joy Sarkar, a resident of Cooch Behar.
Reportedly the accused was planning to smuggle 42 kilograms of cannabis to Bihar from Cooch Behar by constructing a secret chamber in a pickup van.
Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a campaign in the Amaidighi area of Fulbari and detained the accused from a hotel. Upon searching the pick-up van, cannabis worth Rs 02 lakhs was recovered. The accused was produced in the Jalpaiguri court today.
