Siliguri, 17th September: In a significant breakthrough, the New Jalpaiguri (NJP) police apprehended an individual identified as Mintu Sarkar, a resident of Surya Sen Colony Siliguri, with cannabis worth lakhs of rupees.
As per reports, On Sunday, acting on a tip-off, the undercover cops of NJP police station launched an operation, near Bhola More area of Fulbari I Anchal, and retrieved a four-wheeler. Upon searching, 10 packets of cannabis were recovered from various secret chambers of the vehicle. Following which, the accused Mintu was arrested.
According to police sources, about 1 quintal and 11 kg of cannabis was recovered with an estimated market value of approximately 11 lakh rupees. The cannabis were being transported from Cooch Behar to Bihar. Today, the accused has been produced before Jalpaiguri Court. At present, police are engaged in further investigation.
