One arrested with 7 mm pistol and two live cartridges in Siliguri

Siliguri, 10th November: In a significant breakthrough, the Special Operations Group (SOG) and Matigara police station arrested a miscreant with a firearm and two live cartridges. The arrested individual has been identified as Bappi Barman, a resident of Naxalbari.


According to reports, on Thursday night, the SOG received a tip-off about an individual with a firearm near North Bengal University (NBU). Acting swiftly, the SOG along with the cops of Matigara police station launched an operation and apprehended the miscreant near gate number two of the NBU.

Upon being searched, a 7 mm pistol and two live cartridges were recovered from his possession. Subsequently, Bappi Barman was arrested on charges of illegal possession of firearms.


Sources revealed that the Matigara police station will present the accused before the Siliguri court on Friday and urge for remand. The remand will be sought for further interrogation to ascertain the involvement of the arrested miscreant in the attempted loot of an ATM in the Shiv Mandir area under the Matigara police station, two days ago.
