Siliguri, 13th September: In a significant breakthrough, the undercover cops of Matigara Police Station arrested a youth on charge of running an illegal drug business in Siliguri. The arrested accused has been identified as MD Akhtarul, a resident of Chopra.
According to reports, MD Akhtarul purchased a house in the Vishwas Colony area of Siliguri after arriving from Chopra. Subsequently, he established a racket of drug trafficking in the entire city. Meanwhile, the undercover cops of Matigara Police Station, acting on a tip-off, raided Akhtarul’s house.
During the operation, police recovered a huge quantity of brown sugar from the house. Following this, MD Akhtarul was arrested. The accused will be produced before the Siliguri court, on Thursday, after registering a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. At present, police are engaged in investigating the entire matter.
