One arrested for passport fraud in Siliguri

Siliguri, 05th September: In recent times, vicious miscreants who dupe people by adopting different tactics are continuously carrying out mischiefs in Siliguri. One such case surfaced from Siliguri’s Sevoke Road, where a man, identified as Sunil Barman, allegedly duped people under the pretext of getting their passports made. 


As per the report, Barman took a hefty amount of cash from a hotelier in Sevoke Road for the passport. He allegedly handed over fake documents to the hotelier and asked him to go to the passport office for verification. Later, when the man reached the passport office, he realized that he had been cheated. After which he lodged a complaint at the Siliguri police station.

On the basis of the complaint, the Siliguri police jumped into action and arrested the accused from Cooch Behar and brought him to Siliguri on Saturday night. After producing the accused in the Siliguri court today, the judge directed him to be kept in police custody for 08 days. According to police sources, there are several allegations of cheating against the accused. Police have started an investigation of the whole matter.
