Rajganj, 01st December: The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared a new coronavirus variant to be “of concern” and named it Omicron. With this in mind, as a precautionary measure, steps have been taken to test every individual who enters India through the Fulbari border checkpost.
A camp was organized at Fulbari border of Indo-Bangladesh border on Wednesday. Rajganj BDO Pankaj Konar inspected the camp in the presence of Nazrul Islam, OC of Banglabandha Immigration Check Post.
In the Jalpaiguri district, immigration checkpoints are present only in Fulbari. Many tourists travel through this border checkpost every day. To take precautionary measures with Omicron, COVID testing facilities have been set up at Zero Point of Fulbari border check post.
In this regard, BDO Pankaj Konar of Rajganj said that the RTPCR test is being conducted on everyone coming from Bangladesh through this immigration checkpost. Until the report is received, passengers have been arranged to stay at Fulbari Pather Sathi (Guest House) at the government’s expense. If the report comes back positive, action will be taken as per the guidelines of the health department.
On the other hand, Nazrul Islam, OC of Banglabandha Immigration Check Post, said that the issue of health camps at Zero Point was not known in advance. Every tourist will be informed about the matter while crossing the border.
