Siliguri, 08th September: The personnel of NJP police station, in plain attire, nabbed Mithun Gowala, a drug peddler, and seized 32 kg of cannabis from his possession. The accused was apparently heading to Bihar with the drugs from Jalpaiguri on Tuesday.
Acting on a tip-off, the accused was arrested from the Jiaganj area by the NJP police. Apart from the substantial amount of cannabis, a motorcycle used in criminal activities was seized from the accused. He was produced in Jalpaiguri court today.
According to police sources, Mithun Gowala has several charges against him including the sale of firearms, dacoity, snatching and possession of illegal narcotics. Police in the South Bengal district including Siliguri and Jalpaiguri were also searching for the accused.
