North Bengal Basfore and Harijan Welfare Organisation launched Uttar kanya Abhiyan in support of 22-point demand

Siliguri, 29th December: The members of North Bengal Basfore and Harijan Welfare Organisation carried out Uttar kanya Abhiyan in support of several demands. However, the police halted the campaign at Fulbari Murder Road.


According to reports, on December 26, the sanitation workers of the organization initiated the Uttar Kanya Abhiyan near Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in Cooch Behar. Following this, the on-foot rally arrived at Fulbari on December 29.

The Abhiyan was launched in support of 22-point demands, including a meeting with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the development of Dalit-Harijan sanitation workers, and providing temporary employees a permanent position in government offices.


Subsequently, as the rally approached closer to Uttar kanya, the police halted the rally at Fulbari Murder More. Later eight representatives from eight districts came forward and submitted a 22-point memorandum.

Speaking in this regard, Assistant Secretary of the organization’s Core Committee, Luv Kumar Mallick stated that on December 26 the organization began its Uttar kanya Abhiyan from Cooch Behar in support of 22-point demands. He added that eight representatives on behalf of the organization have put forward their demands in front of the Officer-in-Charge of Uttar Kanya. Furthermore, he stated that the Officer-in-Charge assured to resolve the matter.
