NJP Police nabs three people for stealing iron rods loaded vehicle

Siliguri, 19th July: The NJP police arrested three people including a driver who had been missing with a canter loaded with iron rods.


According to the sources, a canter loaded with iron rods had left for Meghalaya from Siliguri on June 04. It is alleged that the canter disappeared midway after which, a complaint was lodged in the nearest police station by the people who sent the consignment.

On receiving the complaint, police started investigating the case of the missing canter and recovered the vehicle from Assam on June 24. Despite recovering the canter they could not locate the iron rods which were in the vehicle. The driver of the canter was taken into custody for questioning. On further interrogation, it revealed that the driver had two more accomplices.


On July 18, the police arrested the other two accused from Jalukbari, Assam-Meghalaya border area. The three accused were produced before the Jalpaiguri court today.
