NJP police arrested four people with stolen tea leaves in Siliguri

Siliguri, 23rd November: NJP police arrested four people with stolen tea leaves. The arrested accused have been identified as Bittu Roy, Saidul Islam, Kamlesh Chettri, and Latikul Islam.


It has been learned that around 34 quintals of tea leaves were stolen from a tea factory in Jatiyakali on September 08. After the incident, the factory authorities lodged a written complaint at the NJP police station. Based on the complaint, the police launched investigations and arrested four men. 5 quintals of stolen tea leaves were recovered from their possession. A pickup van used in the theft was confiscated.

According to police sources, the four had gathered in the Jatiyakali area on Monday night to transport the stolen tea leaves to Madarihat, from where they were arrested. Police have started searching for the remaining 29 quintals of stolen tea leaves. The arrested individuals were sent to Jalpaiguri court today.
