NJP Jatiyatabadi Railway Thika Sramik Union submits memo demanding recruitment of local workers for the construction of school

Siliguri, 18th December: The Central Government has initiated the construction work of a school in the area adjacent to the New Jalpaiguri (NJP) Railway station. In this regard, the members of NJP Jatiyatabadi Railway Thika Sramik Union submitted a memorandum to the construction company of the school demanding the recruitment of local labourers in the construction work.


According to reports, on Monday morning, the members of the organization undertook a rally near the office and headed toward the school under construction. Additionally, the protestors raised slogans and demanded that the local labourers be appointed for the construction work. Subsequently, the demonstrators also submitted a memorandum to the construction company in alignment with their demands.

In this regard, the protestors emphasized the detriment of appointing workers from outside for the task in terms of the employment benefit of the local labourers as the opportunity will open avenues of income for the local workers.
