Maynaguri, 20th January: Sensation prevailed after a newborn baby was rescued from the sewer of a tea garden in Maynaguri.
Reportedly, a tea worker named Kavita Roy, resident of the Nayabari area under Padmati No.01 Gram Panchayat of Maynaguri block, was returning home from work on Wednesday night when she heard a baby crying from the tea garden. Out of curiosity, she looked around and found the newborn lying on a pile of garbage beside a sewer.
Kavita, along with her husband, rescued the baby and took it to Jalpaiguri Sadar Hospital. The child is in a critical condition and is currently being treated at the Sick and Neonatal Care Unit. The incident has been reported to the police.
