Siliguri, 30th July: Siliguri Traffic Police inaugurated a new traffic signal booth on the Eastern Bypass area on Thursday as part of an initiative to improve road safety and prevent frequent accidents.
The new traffic signal booth office was inaugurated near Dhakeshwari Kali Mandir under the initiative of Ashighar Sub Traffic Guard. DCP (Traffic) Quazi Samsuddin Ahamed, ADCP Purnima Sherpa, ACP Chandan Das and other police officials were present during the inauguration.
The booth has been equipped with CCTV cameras and a monitoring system, allowing officials to regularly track traffic conditions in the area. Police said that quick action can be taken during accidents or traffic congestion situations through the new monitoring facility.
The Eastern Bypass is a densely populated area where traffic management facilities were reportedly inadequate earlier, leading to frequent congestion and accidents. Traffic officials expressed hope that the new traffic signal booth will help regulate vehicle movement and improve road safety.
