Siliguri, 09th July: An atmosphere of tension engulfed Siliguri’s Baribhasa Madani Bazar area after a man allegedly attacked his 30-year old neighbour Subrata Dey with a sharp weapon, severely injuring him on the spot.
According to Dey’s family sources, a man named Khokan Sarkar visited Subrata Dey’s house. Following which, a dispute broke out between them concerning some old issues. Allegedly, in the course of the conflict, Khokan Sarkar attacked Subrata with a sharp weapon.
The victim’s family members rescued him and rushed him to the Siliguri District Hospital with severe injuries. As his condition further deteriorated, he was shifted to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital.
Upon receiving the news, the NJP police reached the spot shortly after and arrested the accused Khokan Sarkar. Cannabis was also recovered from his residence. The police have launched investigations into the incident.
