NB Development Minister strongly condemns Union Tourism Minister’s remarks on NBMCH

Siliguri, 09th January: Rabindra Nath Ghosh, North Bengal Development Minister, visited North Bengal Medical College and Hospital today and strongly condemned the Union Tourism Minister’s comment on the medical system of the city.

Union Minister of State for Tourism and Culture (I/C) Prahlad Singh Patel and Darjeeling MP Raju Bista met the 10-year-old rape victim of Kharibari at North Bengal Medical College and Hospital. After meeting the victim, Patel expressed outrage over the current situation of the hospital and said that a veterinary hospital provides better treatment than NBMCH.

Highly condemning the Union Minister’s statement, Rabindra Nath Ghosh said that the medical infrastructure of not only North Bengal Medical College Hospital but all the hospitals of the state is very well developed. He asserted that the common people of the state get free treatment in the hospital. The Ghosh further maintained that the people from other states also come and get treatment in Bengal.

“The Union Tourism Minister has come here to do narrow politics without taking any steps for the development of tourism in the region,” the North Bengal Development Minister alleged.
