Naxalbari’s Manjha Tea Garden declared water-sufficient village after decades of scarcity

Naxalbari, 07th March: The long-standing water scarcity issue in Naxalbari’s Manjha Tea Garden has finally been resolved, with the village being declared water-sufficient by Maniram Gram Panchayat.


Reportedly, officials from Maniram Gram Panchayat and the PHE Department, along with local villagers, formally recognized Manjha Tea Garden as a water-rich village. Home to 300 families, this tea garden lies on the border of Maniram Gram Panchayat and the GTA. The residents had endured water shortages for the past 40 years.

Gram Panchayat Pradhan Gautam Ghosh stated that efforts are underway to make Maniram Gram Panchayat entirely water-sufficient in the near future. Following the declaration, he visited households to raise awareness about pure drinking water.
