Naxalbari Rape-Murder Case: Members of State Commission for Women meet victim’s family

Naxalbari, 19th February: Leena Gangopadhyay chairperson of the West Bengal Commission for Women, on Saturday, met the family of the minor who was raped and murdered in Naxalbari. 


Gangopadhyay was accompanied by another member of the commission. While, Amit Sarkar, President of Darjeeling District Legal Aid Forum, Darjeeling District Rural DSP Achintya Gupta Achintya Gupta, Naxalbari Police and local residents were also present on the occasion. 

It is to recall, on the night of February 08, a minor’s body was recovered from a sack thrown away near the boundary wall of a closed hotel in Rathkhola of Naxalbari. The members of the West Bengal Commission for Women took stock of the spot where the minor’s body was found. 


In this regard, Leena Gangopadhyay said that she met the minor’s family and discussed the issue. She demanded a fair trial for the victim’s family and the harshest punishment to those involved in the crime.
