Siliguri, 08th December: The effect of the nationwide strike was witnessed across the city since morning. Apart from minimum bus services, a handful of e-rickshaws (Toto) and autos were sighted plying on the streets.
It is to be noted, a nationwide strike has been called today by the Opposition parties demanding the repeal of Center’s farm bill. Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has also called for a 12-hour bandh across North Bengal today condemning the death of party worker, Ulen Roy, during the Uttarkanya campaign on Monday.
Various left organizations and allied parties of the Left Front took to the streets in support of the bandh and restricted traffic movement on Hill cart road.
