MP Raju Bista visits Gouri Gacch, holds talks with Phansidewa MLA Durga Murmu

Phansidewa, 13th November: Darjeeling MP Raju Bista visted Phansidewa MLA Durga Murmu’s house today and discussed various issues concerning the area. He was accompanied by BJYM Siliguri President Kanchan Debnath.

The MP reached Gouri Gacch village under Bidhannagar gram panchayat-2 in Phansidewa Assembly. The pineapples of Phansidewa are famous across the world and are in high demand even in foreign markets. In this regard, the MP stated that despite being capable of high profits, the pineapple farmer’s in the region are struggling to make ends meet as they are unable to sell their produces at the right price in the market.

“A major portion of the produces do not reach the market as there are no means of transportation, processing units, or any means to access the market,” the MP added.

“Road access to Gouri Gacch is not in a good condition, and there is need to develop the roads around the village. There is also an urgent need to build a bridge over Chenga river. Healthcare facilities are non-existent, and the need for a Primary Health Centre is strongly felt. People also shared their concerns regarding ration distribution, and have stated their preferences for two ration distribution centres in GP2,” the MP wrote on his social media page. He further assured to work closely with MLA Durga Murmu to address the concerns raised by the locals.
