MP Raju Bista visits Balason Bridge, assures to build 3-lane alternative bridges

Siliguri, 23rd October: Darjeeling MP Raju Bista along with Kurseong MLA BP Bajgain, Matigara-Naxalbari MLA Anandamoy Barman and other District BJP and BJYM leaders today visited the Balason Bridge which has been damaged due to the insistent rain.


The MP spoke to NHAI officials and instructed them to help restore the bridge at the earliest. Furthermore, the NHAI officials maintained that the repair work is underway and the bridge will be stabilized within the next 25 days.


The MP stated that the Ministry of Road, Highways and Transportation is building a 4-lane elevated highway connecting Balason to Sevoke. This project will apparently be entirely funded by the Central Government. Also, the centre will be constructing an alternative to Balason, as well as Mahananda bridge, both of which will be 3-lane bridges.

MP Bista also informed that the repair work for NH10, as well as DPR work for Siliguri Ring Road, is being undertaken at war-footing. He assured that the central government is committed to providing the best infrastructure facilities for the people from Darjeeling hills, Terai, Dooars and the rest of North Bengal.
