MP Raju Bista stands true to his promise and sent the Kumudini team off for their show in Switzerland   

Siliguri, 11th July: MP Raju Bista had assured Kalimpong’s Kumudini Homes band that he would make sure they would set off the next day for Switzerland. The MP standing true to his promise, saw the band comprising 21 members off at the Bagdogra Airport this morning. 


It is to recall, on Sunday, the Kumudini Homes band from Kalimpong was to board a flight from Bagdogra Airport to Mumbai at 4:30 PM and then to Zurich, Switzerland, to take part in a marching band parade in Basel, Switzerland. They reached Bagdogra a couple of hours prior to their flight. They arrived at the airport with lots of dreams and aspirations and months of hard work and practice only to be shattered by the cancelation of their flight to Mumbai due to technical issues. The flight cancellation brought dismay and disappointment among the team members, which led to a protest inside the premises of the airport. The team members demanded that proper arrangements and responsibility should be taken by the airlines and authorities. As the news began circulating over social media and media channels, Darjeeling MP Raju Bista acted swiftly and came to their rescue. 

Acting promptly to the news, Darjeeling, MP Raju Bista, reached Bagdogra Airport and interacted with the team. The MP assured the team that he himself will take the responsibility to ensure the arrangements are made to send them off to Switzerland. After which, he contacted the Ministry of Civil Defence and assured the matter would be resolved and taken care of. The MP also spoke to the airline authorities and management and came up with the desired solution that was being expected. 


As promised the night before, he reached Bagdogra airport this morning at 8 AM, and sent the team off to their destination. The promise was kept and the team happily bid farewell to represent the nation. The team reached Delhi Airport this afternoon and is all set to take a connecting flight to Doha at 10 PM and finally to their destination Zurich at 1:30 AM. 

The Kumudini Homes band is the first pipes and drums band who will be performing and representing India in a reputed and renowned military show 15th Basel Tattoo which will commence from 12th July till 25th July. Overcoming all the hurdles towards their achievements, the team is set to make the nation proud. Right and responsible power and prompt actions could make their hard work a success.
