Siliguri, 29th July: On the occasion of Mohun Bagan Day, the Siliguri Mariners’ Fan Club organised a day-long programme near Baghajatin Club in Siliguri.
The programme began with the hoisting of the club flag. Floral tributes were paid to the portrait of late Swapan Sadhan (Tutu) Bose, former president of Mohun Bagan club.
Various sports competitions and cultural programmes were organised as part of the celebration. State Tourism Minister Shankar Ghosh was present at the event and was felicitated by the Siliguri Mariners’ Fan Club.
Siliguri’s table tennis coach Amit Dam was also honoured for his achievements in the sport.
Speaking on the occasion, Tourism Minister Shankar Ghosh said that sports events spread a message of unity and harmony among people. He added that such programmes should witness participation from all sections of society by rising above political differences.
