Siliguri, 26th June: Continuous rainfall has led to severe waterlogging in the Khudiram Pally area near the Eastern Bypass in Siliguri, causing immense hardship for residents. The locality has also been without electricity since Thursday night.
Angry residents gathered on Friday morning to protest the situation and highlight the longstanding drainage issues in the area.
On receiving information about the situation, Dabgram-Fulbari MLA Sikha Chatterjee rushed to the spot and interacted with local residents. She assured them that steps would be taken to resolve the problem at the earliest.
During her visit, the MLA personally removed accumulated garbage to facilitate the drainage of stagnant water.
Local residents alleged that the area has been facing drainage problems for a long time and expressed concern that similar situations would continue to occur unless a permanent solution is implemented.
