MLA Shankar Ghosh demands heritage status of Siliguri Town Station during a program at Junction

Siliguri, 31st May: Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government marked its eighth year in office. To commemorate the day, a program was organized at Siliguri Junction on Tuesday. 


On the occassion, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Siliguri MLA Shankar Ghosh spoke on the Pradhan Mantri Jan Kalyankari Yojana initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the welfare of the people. Furthermore, addressing MP Raju Bista, he demanded the Siliguri Town Station be designated as heritage status. The MLA maintained that dignitaries such as Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash Chandra Bose, and Rabindra Nath Tagore have boarded trains from the station. Hence, it should be conserved and assigned the status. The MLA further raised the demand for a museum at the station.

Siliguri MLA Shankar Ghosh also voiced his view to rename the Siliguri Town Station as Baghajatin. He informed that a letter has already been sent to the Railway Minister in this regard.
