Missing 12-year-old girl’s body recovered from Sukna forest in Siliguri

Siliguri, 13th December: Tensions sparked after the body of a 12-year-old girl was recovered from Sukna forest today. Reportedly, the class 6th student was abducted on December 05 from South Palash under Pradhan Nagar police station area. An atmosphere of mourning has spread in the area after the recovery of her body.


It is to be noted, the girl went missing on December 5 after she left home to appear for her school examination. The family members started looking for her and during the search, they came to know from the CCTV camera footage that Manoj Roy, the son-in-law of their neighbour Pradeep Kumar Roy, abducted her on his bike. Following this, the family lodged a kidnapping case against Manoj Roy at the Pradhan Nagar police station.

After eight days after the incident, the local residents of Sukna informed the Sukan Out Post police regarding the dead body lying in the forest. The cops took the body in their possession and informed the deceased’s family. On getting the news, the mother reached the spot and identified the body. At present, the body has been sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for postmortem. On the other hand, the accused Manoj Roy is still absconding and police have launched a search operation.
