Siliguri, 26th August: Preparations for Raksha Bandhan have already begun in Siliguri, with markets witnessing increased activity ahead of the festival. The area outside the city’s Hawkers’ Corner was seen bustling with activity, with stalls displaying rakhis in various colours and designs.
Raksha Bandhan celebrates the bond of love, affection and togetherness between brothers and sisters. On the occasion, sisters tie rakhis on their brothers’ wrists, strengthening their bond and reaffirming their promise to stand by each other.
Ahead of the festival, traders in Siliguri have brought in a wide variety of rakhis. From traditional rakhis and colourful designs to cartoon-themed rakhis popular among children, the market offers options for people of different age groups. A variety of attractive rakhis for adults are also available.
Traders said they had prepared for the festival in advance and expressed hope that rakhi sales would be better this year compared to last year.
The colourful displays have already added to the festive atmosphere in Siliguri ahead of Raksha Bandhan.
