Miscreants assault, loot rickshaw driver in NJP’s Netaji More

Siliguri, 15th July: A gang of local miscreants has been accused of physically assaulting a rickshaw puller and looting all his possessions in Netaji More area in NJP. The victim, Pintu Roy, is a resident of Cooch Behar who has been living in Siliguri and driving rickshaw for years. 


Reportedly, Pintu was besieged by the miscreants in NJP Netaji More at around 9 AM. Allegedly they started beating him and fled away with the money he had been saving to go back to his hometown. After the incident, the rickshaw puller burst into tears. Later, he lodged a complaint against the miscreants at NJP police station. 

Pintu said that he had saved Rs 2800 with his daily hard-earned wages. He was planning to visit his hometown with the money he had saved. He urged the police to punish the assaulters severely. “They not only robbed me of my money but also of the opportunity to visit my home,” he said.
