Minor kidnapped from Gujarat rescued in West Bengal’s Siliguri, one arrested

Siliguri, 04th June: In a significant breakthrough in unfolding attempted kidnapping, the Gujarat Police of Rajkot’s Pradyuman Nagar Police Station rescued the minor girl from Siliguri, following which, one individual has been arrested. The arrested has been identified as Vishal Gordhanbhai Lalwani (22), a resident of Rajkot in Gujarat.


Reportedly, on the 19th of May, a written complaint was filed at Pradyuman Nagar Police Station of Rajkot in Gujarat with regard to the alleged kidnapping of a 17-year-old girl, following which, police initiated a search operation aided by tracking the phone of the minor girl. During the tracking, the phone signal indicated West Bengal’s Siliguri as the location due to which Pradyuman Nagar Police Station contacted Siliguri Metropolitan Police.

Subsequently, the police team from Rajkot left for Siliguri. Meanwhile, this morning, the police team from Rajkot jointly with the help of Matigara Police Station of Siliguri Metropolitan Police rescued the minor safely in an area under the Pradhan Nagar Police Station. In addition, the accused Vishal was also arrested.


After the arrest, the accused was produced before the Siliguri Court, in which, the police requested 5 days transit remand to Gujarat for further interrogation.

Speaking to the media, Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) of Pradyuman Nagar Police Station, MA Vaghela stated that with the help of phone location tracking, the minor could be reached and rescued in Siliguri. The PSI also lauded the cooperation of Matigara police station of Siliguri Metropolitan Police in successfully rescuing the minor girl.
