Siliguri, 26th June: West Bengal Tourism Minister Shankar Ghosh and MLA Sikha Chatterjee on Friday visited the family of the mother and son who died due to electrocution in Bhabasindhu Colony under Ward No. 42 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation.
Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, both public representatives met the bereaved family members, offered their condolences and assured them of all possible assistance.
Tourism Minister Shankar Ghosh described the incident as extremely unfortunate and heartbreaking. He assured that a thorough investigation would be conducted to ascertain the circumstances that led to the tragedy. He also said that every effort would be made to ensure that the victim’s family receives financial assistance from the government.
MLA Sikha Chatterjee also expressed her condolences and assured the family of her support during this difficult period. She stated that she would remain in constant touch with the administration to ensure that the family receives the necessary assistance at the earliest.
It may be recalled that on Wednesday, Pramila Roy and her son Raju Roy died after allegedly receiving an electric shock from a window that had become electrically charged, at their residence in Bhabasindhu Colony.
The incident had triggered outrage among local residents, who alleged negligence on the part of the electricity department and demanded a fair investigation and strict action against those responsible.
