Siliguri, 25th January: Sensation prevailed after a mentally unstable woman died by self-immolation, on Tuesday morning. Her body was recovered from Shiv Mandir, Amtala area. The deceased has been identified as Smriti Roy, a resident of Gosaipur.
It has been learned that the deceased stepped out of the house this morning and died by self-immolation. Her husband said that she took such a drastic step due to her mental illness.
After the incident, Matigara police recovered the body and sent it to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.
