Memorandum submitted by Asha workers to SDO in support of several demands

Siliguri, 13th December: Asha workers have constantly been facing difficulties while surveying for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. After this, they submitted a memorandum in support of several demands and also expressing their displeasure with such misconduct.

Members of the Darjeeling District Committee of Pashchim Banga Asha Karmi Union today reached in front of the office of the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) through a protest rally from Baghajatin Park in Siliguri and submitted a memorandum.

In this regard, ASHA workers said that they have been providing health services for a long time, but on November 11, the government ordered that they will have to work on the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana as well. In view of this, they commenced the survey work but lately have been receiving threats. Citing this as the reason, they have joined the movement demanding cancellation of the government’s order at the earliest. They have further warned to quit their job if their demand is not met at the earliest.
