Rajganj, 27th August: A small goods vehicle crashed into a parked dumper on a national highway in Rajganj late Wednesday night, leaving the vehicle severely damaged and its driver seriously injured. The accident took place at around 1:30 am in the area between Talma and Sariam.
According to local sources, the small goods vehicle rammed into the rear of a dumper that was parked on the highway. The impact left the front portion of the goods vehicle badly mangled, trapping the driver inside the cabin.
After remaining trapped for some time, the driver was rescued with the help of local residents and Rajganj Police. The injured driver was identified as Soumyadeep Das. He was later taken to Jalpaiguri Government Medical College and Hospital in a serious condition.
Police have recovered the damaged vehicle from the spot. Rajganj Police have started an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the accident.
