Jalpaiguri, 27th August: Trinamool Congress-led Jalpaiguri Municipality Chairman Saikat Chatterjee has resigned from his post.
A few days ago, several councillors had brought a no-confidence motion against the chairman. Following this, the chairman allegedly did not convene the meeting within the stipulated time.
Subsequently, the state Department of Municipal Affairs and Urban Development issued a show-cause notice to the chairman over the matter.
Following the development, Saikat Chatterjee resigned as Chairman of Jalpaiguri Municipality on Thursday.
