Fulbari, 27th August: A PHE water supply pipeline burst near Chunavati under Fulbari-II Gram Panchayat on Thursday morning, resulting in a large quantity of water flowing onto the road and going to waste.
The pipeline, located along the Siliguri-Jalpaiguri National Highway near Chunavati, supplies treated drinking water from the PHE project in Fulbari to the Siliguri area.
According to reports, work was underway nearby using a JCB machine on Thursday morning. Some locals suspect that the pipeline may have been damaged after being hit by the JCB. Following this, the pipeline burst and a large quantity of treated water began gushing onto the road.
The water continued to flow for hours, raising questions over the monitoring of the concerned authorities and the wastage of a large quantity of treated water.
Locals have urged the concerned authorities to take immediate steps to stop the leakage and prevent further wastage of water.
