Matigara police seized banned firecracker worth lakhs ahead of Diwali

Siliguri, 03rd November: The cops of Matigara police station seized a huge quantity of banned firecrackers in Siliguri. However, no arrests have been made in connection to the case.


According to reports, on Friday, acting on a tip-off, the police of Matigara police station launched an operation at a residence in an area adjacent to Matigara Haat. During the subsequent search, a large quantity of banned firecrackers was recovered. The market value of the seized items is estimated to be about 7 lakh rupees.

Sources revealed that the firecrackers were brought from outside, in view of the upcoming Diwali, and kept hidden in the said house near Matigara Haat. The seized banned firecrackers include chocolate and chili bombs. At present, the police are engaged in investigating the entire matter.
