Matigara police arrest one for making fake COVID reports in Siliguri

Siliguri, 21st August: After allegations surfaced regarding fake COVID reports in the city, the North Bengal Medical Outpost Police under Matigara Police Station launched investigations and arrested a person. The arrested accused has been identified as Saikat Dey.


As per the report, Dey worked in a nursing home in the city. He used to travel to different places for collecting samples of COVID test. However, those samples would never be tested and fake reports would be delivered.

A few days ago, a youth received his father’s report but saw another person’s report while searching with SRF ID. Following which, he lodged a complaint at the police station. Based on the complaint, the police launched an investigation and arrested Saikat. It has been learned that few more people are involved with him.


After questioning the accused, police learned that he made the report of 7-8 people all by himself. On Saturday, the arrested individual was produced at the court and requested to be taken into police custody. A search is being carried out to find out who else is involved with him.
