Siliguri, 13th June: The Matigara police arrested ten people in three separate incidents.
The police arrested three men with brown sugar. The arrested accused have been identified as Sultan Islam, Maqsoodul Haque, and Manoj Biswas. 275 grams of brown sugar was recovered from their possession. The estimated market value of the recovered brown sugar is around 8 lakh rupees.
Meanwhile, the police arrested five members of a robbers’ gang in Paribahan Nagar. The arrested accused have been identified as Akbar Islam, Ashish Thapa, Bahadur Roy, Akhtarul, and Munna Shah. Several sharp weapons were recovered from their possession.
In the third case, two persons were arrested on charges of running an illegal liquor business. The arrested accused have been identified as Ramesh Chhetri and Prashant Tamang. Chettri was arrested from a shop in the Mathabhanga Pool area under Matigara police station and Tamang was arrested from the Bidhanpally area.
The arrested individuals were produced in Siliguri court today.
