Siliguri, 22nd September: Panic gripped after a massive fire broke out at a wooden furniture godown in the Pal Para area of Matigara in Siliguri. Promptly, the locals reported the matter to the Fire department.
Upon receiving the news, 5 fire department engines along with police arrived at the spot and initiated an operation to douse the inferno. After several hours of valiant efforts, the fire personnel controlled the prevailing situation. Notably, the timely action of the fire department ensured controlling the fire from spreading to the surrounding structures.
As per reports, a number of furniture kept in the warehouse were brought down to ashes. However, the precise amount of damage is yet to be ascertained. Preliminary reports indicate that the fire broke out due to a short circuit.
