Rajganj, 22nd September: Arjit Das, a resident of Krishnanagar Colony, West Dhantala of Fulbari 2 Gram Panchayat under Rajganj Block, is suffering from complex liver disease. Despite having a Swasthya Sathi card, he was refused treatment in private hospitals. At present, he is bedridden at home. The family desperately requested help for his treatment.
Arjit Das is living in a severe financial crisis with his wife, two daughters and a son. His wife Sukani Das is working as a day labourer to earn a living.
Das said that he has been suffering from a stomach ailment for six months. Although he was admitted to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for treatment, doctors advised him to go outside for proper treatment. However, they were unable to travel outside due to a lack of financial means.
Surajit Das, the elder brother of Arjit Das, said that he approached various private hospitals in Siliguri and adjoining areas for his brother’s treatment but was turned away on various excuses. Despite having the state’s Swasthya Sathi card, they were refused treatment in private hospitals.
