Naxalbari, 01st June: A person died in an elephant attack in the Naxalbari tea garden. On Wednesday, while working in the garden, the workers found the lifeless body of a person and informed the police about the incident.
As soon as the news was received, Naxalbari police and forest personnel of the Tukuria Forest Department reached the spot and took the dead body in their possession, and sent it to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.
It has been presumed that the person might have encountered an elephant and was killed while he was trying to run away. The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained as the deceased’s body was covered with mud. Elephant footprints were also spotted in the area. Police are investigating the whole matter.
